Tip of the Day 9/14:Owning a cache means maintaining a cache

When you place a cache, you’re responsible for keeping it up. If it disappears,it the top cracks,if the logbook fills up or gets wet —it’s up to the cache owner to fix it.

Most cachers only keep a limited number of caches just for this reason. Because maintaining them (especially if they’re a 5-mile bike ride from the nearest road) and reading all the logs from them can become a time-consuming job!

The other option,of course,is just to archive the caches when they need maintenance. This is time-consuming for your volunteer reviewer and for you, too, though. We recommend you keep them up instead of archiving them.
