Rain forest in the city
The highlight of caching in Puerto Rico was finding a cache hidden in Residencial Nemesio Canales in San Juan. This is a park that formerly was abandoned land but was saved and allowed to develop its natural beauty. There’s very little landscaping. You don’t need much in a place where jungles grow naturally. The odd thing was finding remnants of an old city neighborhood amidst the giant palm trees and swinging vines. In addition to the occasional rusted-out appliance,there are fire hydrants and even junked cars. Yet you hardly notice them because the vegatation so quickly covers and consumes them. It was an eerie,fascinating,mysterious and memorable experience. Plus we found the cache!
